Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of historic Telford, Blist's Hill Chip Shop stands out as a charming tribute to traditional British fish and chips, masterfully prepared to deliver an authentic Victorian-era experience. This delightful eatery serves up crispy, golden fish and perfectly cooked chips that take you straight back in time, wrapped in the quaint village-themed paper that adds a nostalgic touch to every order.

The standout feature here is the exclusive use of beef dripping for frying, a method that injects a rich, savory depth into both the flaky white fish and the chips. Longtime patrons and first-time visitors alike rave about the irresistibly crisp batter that encases juicy fish fillets, while the chips strike a flawless balance between crunchy outsides and fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth interiors. This lovingly crafted culinary combo creates a sensory experience that's both comforting and indulgent.

Despite its popularity, reflected in occasional queues that speak volumes about its quality, the staff at Blist's Hill Chip Shop remain warm and dedicated, making every guest feel genuinely valued. Reviewers highlight not only the exquisite flavor but also the fair value, though some note that prices are slightly on the higher side — a small trade-off for the superb taste and unique cooking style. Whether you stop by after exploring the fantastic Blist's Hill Museum & Experience or spontaneously crave a classic takeaway, this chip shop promises a taste of tradition with each bite.

In all, Blist's Hill Chip Shop delivers more than just a meal; it offers a lovingly preserved piece of culinary heritage, perfectly suited for those who appreciate the artistry of well-made fish and chips. For anyone visiting Telford, indulging here is less about convenience and more about savoring a true British classic elevated by passion and authenticity.

I had fish and chips decent price, and they were delicious. Haven't had decent chips like that for years x

Wow what a wonderful place to have your fish and chips. Cooked in traditional style batter. Made from scratch. Worth the wait. Loved the homemade fish and chips. Only had salt and vinegar as they are keeping too the traditional Victorian era. Long queue 30 mins but worth the wait l

Stunning fish n chips cooked in beef dripping and served in a paper cone. Good value too.

Very expensive £4 for chips big que to get served although we had a lovely day there looking around the museum

ABSOLUTELY LOVELY MAN, Have a walk around the site and then order a well deserved Chippy. Its cooked in beef dripping and its sooo nice!!

There was no line when we went, despite it being a Saturday afternoon. The staff members were very friendly and committed to their roles. It was one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK so far, all wrapped up in a cute Blists Village-themed paper! The chips were crunchy and fluffy, while the fish was crispy and juicy. The only downside would be how small the fish was (buried deep inside the cone), especially with the price of £9.50, which appears to have increased since last year. We were so enamored with the first fish and chips that we got the sausage and chips near closing time, where they coincidentally had a fresh batch of chips. That was not a good decision. I wasn’t a big fan of the sausage and the second time around, the chips were slightly undercooked, primarily yellow rather than golden or brown, and nowhere near as crispy as the first time. Perhaps avoid getting the chips near closing time, even if it’s a fresh batch, and choose the fish. While there’s no seating in the shop itself, you can eat your meal in the nearby inn or any courtyard (?) space outside.

Amazing chips cooked in beef dripping and the best fish ive had in a long time! Decent price too for a museum at £8.50

Always love the Fish and Chips from here. It is quite expensive, however we share 1 fish and 2 chips between the 3 of us. We also have the Pass Plus, so get 10% off and this has been great value for the money
